Caroline Kennedy? Really, Media??
So I would just like to bring up the topic of Caroline Kennedy’s recent announcement that she would like to fill the upcoming vacancy of Hillary Clinton’s spot as junior senator of New York. Caroline is the daughter of John F. Kennedy and her current occupation is -lawyer-. She has never held a political office/position, not even on the city council or anything. Suddenly, she wants to be a senator? And not just a senator… a senator of New York! That’s a pretty big deal for someone who has never held any sort of political office. Now, this is what gets me. The media is for the most part supportive of her and if they are not being “supportive” they are saying nothing. They are saying nothing about a woman who wants to be a senator and who’s only qualification seems to be that she is a Kennedy. That’s strange, because just seven weeks ago that same media couldn’t stop bashing Sarah Palin (the woman who has held a political position since 1992 and who now holds the highest executive office in the largest state of the country with the highest ratings of all of the governor’s in the country) for being “unqualified”? All of that seems to count for nothing, but that Caroline Kennedy, she’s got what it takes! She’s a Kennedy! If that is not proof of the media’s liberal bias then I don’t know what is. There is an obvious double standard here.

Emily I agree with you. Joining the family business is not qualification for a senatorial position. If she was so die-hard on being politics, why not start like her cousins who worked on many community projects before climbing the political ladder. What may have worked for her Uncle Ted, may not not neccesarily work in today political world.
Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer before he ran for the presidency. Does that mean he was not qualified?
He was not JUST a lawyer… Lincoln held a seat in the Illinois House of Representatives, then in the US House of Representatives, he ran for Senator of Illinois multiple times and was even considered for the vice presidency by the RNC before he became president….. He had a political career of like a good 30 years, building his way from the bottom to the top. He didn’t just wake up one day and say, “Hm, today I think I’d like to be a senator.”
